How blessed I am…
Psalm 127
3 Behold, children are a [c]gift of the LORD,
The fruit of the womb is a reward.
4 Like arrows in the hand of a warrior,
So are the children of one’s youth.
5 How blessed is the man whose quiver is full of them;
They will not be ashamed
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.

So I realized that I hadn’t made any posts in quite a while here. I’ve committed to keep the camera out and handy. Here’s a couple photos of Erik at about 3 weeks. Ha! He’s over 3 months now and I need more photos! We are crazy busy, just ask Bethel

Our friend across the street had a birthday recently (I think 7!) so several weeks after the party I finally get a chance to post the photos.

I hadn’t seen anything online about how to build your own hanging tire storage rack. I suppose you could build it to store other things on as well.
My ceiling in the garage is close to 10 ft. off the floor so I have space to store lots of things up high. I recently bought winter wheels and tires for the Odyssey and needed somewhere to keep them that wasn’t on the floor of the garage. I had seen the wall mounted tire storage rack available at The Tire Rack for about $130, but thought I could build something a little sturdier and larger. I have about $60 in this one which is 80″ long and about 30″ from the wall.
The rack I built was out of 2×6 white lumber. I used joist hangers which drove the cost up slightly and I probably didn’t really have to use 2×6 lumber either. But it’s not coming down! So anyway, use 2×6 lumber, self tapping lag screws to attach to the wall, chain and hooks in the appropriate places a bunch of screws and that’s it! I suppose I could probably build a large shelf all the way around the garage like this someday if I need the space and top it with plywood.
To install, just hang the whole assembly from the chain and install a temporary ledger board under the wall side to support it. Tilt it up and adjust the chain length. If I were to do it again, I’d probably incorporate some turnbuckles into the chain to finely adjust the length to keep the tension evenly split. But as long as you can adjust the depth of the hooks after the permanent lag screws are installed to the ledger, you should be fine.
If you have questions, just ask.

We went over to some friends’ house for dinner the other night and decided to take a walk in the park to shoot some photos of their daughter Lia who’s 9 months now. We brought along some brownies to snack on. It was somewhat warm and this was the result…
